Laura Banfield is a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist working across performance (PE), wearable artifacts (WE), installation (I), photography (PH), film (F), and workshops (WO).

Throughout her commissioned pieces and collaborative projects, and personal work, Laura explores notions of performance, material, bodies, and fashion. Her work has been exhibited both locally and internationally. Beyond this work, she lectures within the Bachelor of Fashion (Design) program at RMIT University.

Performance of Postures (2022)  PERFORMANCE, INSTALLATION

Collaboration with Claire Myers
Presented at NGV’s Melbourne Design Week

A durational performance exploring notions of temporality, bodily configuration and perception to expand how we experience bodies and clothing. As the performance unfolded across two hours, models assumed still-life poses with the assistance of a body-suspending installation. Meanwhile, onlookers interacted with the work by moving around to explore it from various vantage points, and sharing their perspectives via social media.
